The Well of a Thousand Demons
Synopsis
EL Pozo De Los Mil Demonios is a dramatic text by Maribel Carrasco, which in 2018 celebrated 30 years since it was written. It is a story that represents a watershed in theater focused on children in Mexico, which has also been represented in other countries as part of the collection of the best theater for children edited by CONACULTA in 1994 and 2001.
This play has been rewritten by its author for Luna Morena in 2018. In this new version, the author preserves the original dramatic structure of the play, based on the archetypal figure of the hero and his initiatory journey, in this case the heroine, who makes her symbolic journey to transform her vision and mission on earth.
The girl Jacinta travels through the well in order to recover her pitcher containing the water of life. It is a powerful allegory of the search for identity and lost roots. A work that delves into the importance of memory: historical, social, family, as well as the danger of forgetting these roots, raising the memory as a resource to find what makes us part of something, a family, people or nation; it also speaks of respect for the environment and responsibility in the natural balance of the world through decision making.
