Synopsis
The play centers on the friendship between Jacinto Canek and young Guy, a descendant of Yucatecan hacienda owners. Through their bond, the story highlights the generosity and human empathy that can emerge from encounters between different cultures and generations.
Narrated by Exa, an Indigenous woman recalling her childhood on a Yucatecan hacienda, the piece invites us to reflect on the social injustices experienced—and still endured—by Indigenous communities in our country, while also honoring the poetic essence of Ermilo Abreu’s original work.
