Cactácea

Synopsis

The staging is developed around the story of a man who will play the role of Jesus Christin the passion play during holy week. The man decides to change some texts of the performance in order to start a new nation. The attempt fails and he is taken prisoner. His wife, Guadalupe, explains what happened to their teenage son, who shows total disinterest, absorbed by pages and videos on the Internet. Around these events, the community celebrates around the legends of the nahuales and the transformation of the saviour into a rabbit, a cactus and mezcal, metamorphoses derived from the name of our country. With this anecdote, a relationship is made between the mythical, ritual and political thinking of our country and the changes it is currently undergoing due to the loss of borders on the Internet and the change of paradigms of Western culture.
